Hurray for The Curtains. We love them, we have always loved them. And now they are putting the finishing touches on a "pop" record, so how could we not get involved? With no band and not even a recording studio, The Curtains' Chris Cohen spent several weeks in the isolation of a mountain cabin and sang and played all the instruments on the 13 songs that make up The Curtains as-yet-untitled 4th record. Chris sent a rough copy to long time supporter Michael Kaufmann who immediately championed it to the Asthmatic Kitty office.
With several guest performances - Nedelle Torrisi and Yasi Perera on harmonies, and Half-handed Cloud John Ringhofer on trombone - this record traverses significant new territories from previous Curtains' albums, crafting timeless delights. A new 4 piece line-up includes Nedelle (gtr/vox), Annie Lewandowski (kbds/vox) and Corey Fogel (drums) will tour the US in August 2006.
Since The Curtains' Asthmatic Kitty debut will not be released until early Fall of 2006, in the meantime we encourage you to explore the back catalog on the [Thin Wrist Recordings] label and [Frenetic Records] and familiarize yourself with the musical trajectory that is The Curtains. |
